Motown's
Downtown
Instead of trekking to the
mall this year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 24,
2006, take advantage of a free shuttle to Motown’s Downtowns
for a true shopping and dining experience in Ferndale, Royal
Oak, Hamtramck and Detroit.
The Motown’s Downtowns
community shuttle service will run a repeating path between
participating communities, with a northbound and southbound
shuttle leaving each community every twenty minutes, and running
from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. In Ferndale, you will be able to
pick up this shuttle at the southeast and southwest corners
of Woodward and Nine Mile. Reservations to ride the shuttle
are required, but you can arrive at anytime and as long as you
would like during the hours of service. You will receive a wrist
band and a bag of shopping information, as well as one of the
Shop Woodward discount cards.
Motown’s Downtowns
is a partnership of planning and development officials in Detroit,
Ferndale, Hamtramck, and Royal Oak, Michigan who coalesced in
2004 around the need to address development challenges common
to their densely populated, urban communities. City Connect
Detroit, a 501©3 nonprofit public charity focused on community
fund development and collaboration, facilitates and manages
the partnership. Our goal is to develop this shuttle service
into an alternative mode of transportation on a regular basis
for the future.
