Downtown Ferndale continues to exceed expectations, and maintains the economic vitality of the district by registering more than $1 million in private and public sector investments and adding 57 net new jobs to its downtown workforce in 2017. District statistics are tracked and reported quarterly by the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority.  Downtown Ferndale welcomed 16 new businesses and is now home to places like Otus Supply and En Soul Yoga.

The 20 events throughout the year helped draw in significant crowds, including: Small Business Saturday, Holiday Ice Festival, Art of the Cocktail, Ferndale Pride, DIY Street Fair & Funky Ferndale Art Fair, and many more. Outside of events, Downtown Ferndale continued to promote and advertise across all the media including print, radio and billboard, as well as on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

The Ferndale DDA manages and markets Downtown Ferndale, a district of approximately 350 businesses located over 3.9 linear miles, intersecting at the iconic Woodward Avenue & Nine Mile Rd.
